Closure notice (last day will be Sunday 12.18.22) – itadaki will permanently close

It is with great sadness that we are announcing that our restaurant, itadaki, will close permanently on Sunday, December 18, 2022.

itadaki opened on July 11, 2011 and has been in business for a full 10 years this year and is now in its 11th year. At that time, Japanese cuisine in Boston was all about sushi rolls, and the concept and word “izakaya” was unheard of in Boston. In Japan, “eating out” was basically enjoying a meal while drinking alcohol, and as the owner of itadaki, I wanted to embody this culture in Boston, so I opened itadaki.

A lot has happened over the past 10 years. There was the terrorist attack at the Boston Marathon, we were not able to open due to martial law, and there was the difficult period of COVID. Still, everyone pulled together and the izakaya concept was accepted on Newbury Street, the heart of Boston, and we did it. As you know, similar concepts can now be found all over the place.

Since our lease is expiring at the end of this year, we have decided to close our restaurant. Thank you for everything. Together we have made many wonderful memories together.

I am now thinking about what new concept I can offer you next. I hope to open another store in the near future that will bring smiles to your faces. Please stay tuned!

PS

Reservations are still accepted until the last day, except on Mondays and Tuesdays (when we are closed). Seating is limited!! We’d love to see you here one last time to help us celebrate the good times! Hope to see you before we close on Sunday, December 18!
